Our list of nativity scenes in Wroclaw opens with:
1. The living nativity scene (szopka) at Edwarda Wittiga 10 has been delighting the residents of Wrocław for 28 years. It is the oldest continuously organised nativity scene of its kind in Poland. The tradition was started by Hanna i Antoni Gucwińscy and the late Father Stanisław Golec (then the parish priest of the Dąbie district of Wrocław).
The animals were brought from the farm of Mr. Daniel Puzdrakiewicz of Grzymalina. The nativity scene is very attractive this year. The main "attraction" is the two-humped camel Tamara, who is especially popular with children because she is very calm and does not mind being stroked. In addition, the manger is home to donkeys - Wojtek and Teddy, kids and two rabbits.
The Nativity Scene will be open this year up to and including January 6, 2025. Hurry up to visit!
Admission is free during church opening hours.
Feeding animals is prohibited.
2. A nativity scene without animals can also be seen at the Wrocław Nativity Scene (Plac Katedralny 18, 50-329 Wrocław). It is a very charming portable nativity scene, where you can see the housewife rolling out dough and the blacksmith at work (you can hear the blows of his hammer).
Admission is free during church opening hours.
And that closes our list of nativity scenes in 2025.
3. The Wrocław exhibition at the National Museum in Wrocław (plac Powstańców Warszawy 5, 50-153 Wrocław). Until January 19, 2025, you will be able to see 125 nativity scenes made by students from 32 Lower Silesian schools and art studios. We are sure that you have not yet seen a gingerbread nativity scene. The exhibition will also feature four old nativity scenes from the collection of the National Museum.
Entrance fee.
