Mobile operators in Poland

How to stay connected in Poland?

It is difficult to imagine our everyday life without mobile communications. Whether you are visiting Poland for the weekend or planning to stay for a long time, you need to stay in touch with your family, look for accommodation or simply call a taxi. Of course, you can use your Ukrainian/Russian/Belarusian number. But why overpay for roaming services when it is more profitable to get a SIM card from a Polish mobile operator.

How to become the owner of a Polish phone number?

Select a mobile operator:

Firstly, it is necessary to list the major players in the mobile services market in Poland:

T-Mobile

Orange

Plus

Play

In addition, mobile communication services in the Republic of Poland are provided by virtual operators (LycamobileVirgin MobileRed Bull Mobilenju mobile etc.). They serve their clients via the Internet. Often the tariffs of such operators are more favorable, since they do not need to service sales offices. Polish youth prefer to use the services of such operators.

Secondly, each operator has its own tariff plan for mobile communications and the Internet.

You can also choose a two-year contract with a mobile operator or purchase a SIM card from a specific company with a prepaid tariff.

Remember that tariffs often have a subscription fee.

Thirdly, if you don't like the chosen tariff or the operator launches a more advantageous offer, you can change it. You can also change the operator itself without losing your number.

Buying a SIM card:

You can buy a SIM card at almost any store at the checkout, as well as at the offices of mobile operators, online, at the post office and at kiosks.

Packages with SIM cards are called starters (“starter na kartę”). As a rule, the cost of such a package is 5-10 zlotys. The operator, tariff with the price tag for mobile communication services and the Internet are indicated on the package.

After purchasing a SIM card, you need to register it. Registration is done online in a matter of minutes by the seller at the point of sale where you bought the SIM card, or at the operator's office when buying online. You will be required to provide your passport details.

After registration the SIM card becomes active.

For choosing your SIM card, many operators give bonuses in the form of minutes, gigabytes or money on the account.

How to top up your account:

The most convenient way to make a payment to your account is to top up your SIM card via the Internet. Each operator's website has pages for topping up your account using bank cards (top up - doładować or top-up).

If you don’t have internet access, you can add money to your mobile phone account at the cash desks in stores, kiosks, post offices or at the office of a mobile operator.

When paying at retail outlets, you will be given a receipt with a unique code. It will also indicate what to enter on your phone to activate the code. The amounts that you can deposit through retail outlets are fixed (check with the seller what amounts are relevant).

A few words about the long-term contract with the mobile operator:

When you sign a two-year contract for mobile phone services, you are required to pay a monthly subscription fee. It will be difficult to terminate such a contract early.

And finally, before purchasing, we recommend that you carefully review the tariffs of several mobile operators and choose the one that suits you in terms of included minutes, traffic, and the cost of calls abroad.
