Kiedy w Polsce obchodzimy Dzień Ojca?

Father's Day is celebrated in almost all countries of the world, but on different dates. For example, in Italy and Spain, dads receive congratulations on March 19, in Bulgaria - on December 26, and in Austria and Lithuania - in June. In the first month of summer, Father's Day is also celebrated by the Danes and Americans. The tradition of this holiday began with the latter.

The first celebration took place on June 19, 1910, in Spokane, Washington, and was organized by Sonora Smart Dodd, the daughter of Civil War veteran William Smart.
At the beginning of the 20th century, American families were large. The family in which Sonora grew up was no exception; the girl had 5 brothers. Unfortunately, their mother died suddenly and all the burdens of upbringing fell on the shoulders of Sonora's father. The girl was very grateful to her father for his care and wanted to thank him. She came up with the idea of organizing a day when everyone honors the memory of not only their father, but all the men who dedicated themselves to the family. Sonora approached the local city authorities with the holiday project. The officials liked the idea. The first celebration was organized in a local church. Believers brought roses: red in gratitude to living fathers, white - for the dead.
The tradition grew in popularity over the years, and in 1972, President Nixon set the official date for Father's Day as June 19.
In Poland, this holiday was first celebrated on June 23, 1965. Since then, it has been June 23 Poles congratulate dads on their day.
