Polish youth dressed up as various characters from epics and biblical tales. Entering a house, they congratulated the hosts on the holiday. Then they acted out various scenes and sang songs. The carolers were welcomed everywhere, believing that they brought happiness to the household.
For their performance they were rewarded with sweets and coins.
