Learning a language is a process of memorisation. We need to memorise words, grammar rules, pronunciation and many other nuances of a language in order to speak a foreign language.
If rote learning does not help to replenish the vocabulary, a special technique will help:
Make up rhyming pairs of words or small poems that contain material to memorise. Even if they don't make sense from the point of view of literary language or logic.
Often learners of Polish have difficulties with numerals. Check with our "poems" whether this method will help you to memorise "difficult" numerals more easily.
Przed lustrem są trzej bracia, trzy siostry, no i troje dzieci tam stoi;
Jest niby sześciu braci, sześć sióstr i sześcioro dzieci,
Bo się wszystko dwoi. ⠀
Translation: There are three brothers, three sisters and three children standing in front of the mirror, it seems as if there are six brothers, six sisters and six children, because everything is double in the mirror.
Brakuje dwóch braci i dwóch sióstr, czyli dzieci czworga.
Będziemy wytrwali.
Rymujmy dalej:
Brakuje pięciu braci i pięciu sióstr, czyli dzieci dziesięciorga... ⠀
Translation: Two brothers and two sisters are missing, that is four children. Let's be patient, add up the rhymes further: there are not enough five brothers and sisters, that is a total of ten children...
Learning will be easier and more fun if you find a non-trivial way to memorise!
