How to speak Polish quickly and fluently? We are often asked this question. Of course, teachers do not have a "magic pill", but there are simple and effective tips on how to achieve the desired result.
Speaking is the most important skill in learning any foreign language. Many students easily master grammar, read fluently and understand their interlocutors well by ear. But problems with speaking remain. This is not due to lack of knowledge or lack of competence of teachers. The main reason is lack of practice and language barrier.
We are not going to find out the reasons for the language barrier, but suggest that you focus your efforts on overcoming it. Our tips should help you on your way to speaking Polish fluently and freely.

Learn the words
Make sure you memorise the words you learn in class. Make a dictionary and write new words in it yourself. Divide them by topic so that you can use the dictionary and make additions. The more words you know, the easier it will be for you to express your thoughts.
Make the speech come alive
Do not stop at memorising the material covered in the lesson. Work with the words used in the lesson. It will be great if you find synonyms and antonyms for each word yourself. Write down in your dictionary idioms that use the words you have learnt. This way you will diversify your speech and increase your vocabulary.
Learn the phrases
Observe children as they learn to speak. Babies say phrases after their parents, not single words. Use this method for you, too. Learn cliché phrases and speech structures. They will help to start or end a conversation competently and beautifully. Make your own list of key phrases for different situations: dialogue with a doctor, with a salesman, with a boss, etc.
Learn to paraphrase
While you have a small vocabulary, use simple sentences. If you forget the word, improvise. Explain the word using comparisons and examples.
Learn to ask questions
The key to a successful conversation is to talk less about yourself and be more interested in the person you are talking to. Don't hesitate to ask clarifying questions and ask them to repeat what they have said.
More practice
Only practice will bring the desired results. A course or a tutor is never enough: you will not learn a language unless you put your knowledge into practice. This applies to any business. For example, remember how long it took you to hone your driving skills after completing a specialised course. After all, the task of any teacher is to give you maximum theory and show you how to apply it in practice. Your task is to "get the hang of it", and that takes time and desire.
Read aloud and retell what you read
Reading aloud works similarly to listening to videos and audios. In addition, you learn new words and phrases. And by retelling what you read, your vocabulary becomes active.
