MonoLitera: learning to read in Polish

How many times did you "stumble" and "get confused" by the sounds when reading words in Polish? The combination of letters and the presence of special signs caused horror. How to memorise all these reading rules? 😭If the letter Ż (with a dot) is the sound "G hard", and if Ź (with a dash) is the sound "G soft". I have problems with this alphabet.
😭
Don't waste your time on rote learning, but use the 💡 Simplified reading techniques from LITERAL MONOLITERA.

But first a few words about how the idea of helpingĆ newcomers to reading came about.

Many linguists believe that reading and writing skills are learnt simultaneously. The classical method of teaching is the phonetic approach or the sound-letter method. First we learn the letters and the sounds they represent. Then we put the letters into syllables. The next step is to learn how to read syllables and gradually make it more difficult. We read whole words, spell them together, and at the end we read whole sentences. This method is the basis of the primer. If you have studied Russian, you are familiar with: "Letter A, letter M, syllable MA or AM", and the phrase "MA-MA or AM-AM".

What is MONOLITERA?

We at Litera thought why not draw parallels between languages to make it easier to memorise the rules of reading. We wanted to combine a phonetic approach to learning with the ability to read in the mother tongue. 🚩It was this idea that formed the basis of the method called "Monolitera". No, we are not going to learn words by syllables as children. We are adults and we can cheat. We will read in our native language and write the familiar sounds in Polish letters. In this way, you will have one more way to help you learn quickly.

How to read using the ""MONOLITERA"" method?

Take any text in Russian. It is desirable that it should be small and easy to read. Pay attention to those words that contain, for example, the sound "Sh". Now replace all "Sh" with "SZ". We do this so that the visual memory fixes that the combination of the letters S and Z in Polish gives the sound "Sh". For example, we write "weSZ" instead of the usual "weSzy", etc. You can complicate the task by adding "Ś" instead of "Szcz". Be sure to read the text aloud to activate your auditory memory too.

To make it clear, let us add an example of such a passage:

"There is empty snow in the forest. Here and there you can see empty fir-trees and tracks of hibernating animals. They lead to the very centre of the forest. At night, the chiŚniki and their food..."
‼
Using this method, you will not notice how you will stop confusing the sounds in Polish. Never again will the combination of letters SZ sound like Szcz or SZ. Of course, this is just one of many ways to make learning a foreign language easier. But why not use it if it really works.
